About Alison van der Lande
Eight years ago Alison van der Lande decided to swap the high-pressured life as a successful PR consultant in London to develop her own range of elegant bright travel bags, from her Hampshire home. “I have always wanted to do my own thing, and when I couldn’t find a colourful weekend bag, or a replacement for my daughter’s mini Barbie wheelie bag, I realised a gap in the market. It was eight years ago, and I remember trawling around all the department stores and there was nothing!” said Alison. With a background in marketing, and a love of shopping, Alison spent time researching and developing the concept and launched the first collection in 2004 - The Classico Weekend bag – a half-moon shaped travel bag in bright colours. Within three months of the launch, it had been snapped up by top stores and we knew were onto a winner. People kept asking for a matching hand-bag so the Bella was launched and the handbag collection grew from there. 2006 saw the launch of the (best selling) Daisy Doo (named after her daughter Daisy). This easy day bag, goes over the shoulder, and has pockets for lipstick and mobiles. It sells thousands every year and comes in over twenty colours, from metallic, pastel, white and patent.Celebrities** who own one or more of our bags include Sarah Jessica Parker, Jennifer Anniston and Sandra Bullock and they span Hollywood, New York and London and some royalty. ** Click here for a full list of celebrity fans!
